So, decided semi-randomly the other day to pick up and go to the NC Zoo in Asheboro with Jarrad because it was all wet and icky down here and he had to cancel his softball practice. The preparation consisted of “Hey, wanna go to the zoo?” “Kay!” Then we checked the weather and it was suitable, so that was that. Rather uneventful drive up there, went down 74/76 and up Highway 1. Stopped at a Mickey D’s in Laurinburg for breakfast and was severely creeped out by this old guy who kept trying to start conversations with the back of my head while I waiting. They must have been holding a retirement center convention. The amount of old packed in that building was pretty ridiculous. We made it to the zoo at like 10:30, perfect timing! Then started our trek to see the many many aminals. We managed to visit about 98% of the exhibits (a few we skipped because they were just like…bleh, whatever) by 3:30. Pretty good, if I do say so myself. Towards the end it began to rain a bit and we were motivated to see things quickly because of our ever growing hunger. Totally refuse to pay 15 dollars for a damn hot dog. Thats ridic. So, after taking lots of crazy pictures we loaded back into the car and started our drive back home. After plugging Jarrad’s apartments address into my handy dandy TomTom, it told us to take 64 to I-40. I was like okay, that works, we’ll just make a big circle and maybe see some new stuff on the way back! Since we left so early from Asheboro, we were around the area of I-40 right as our appetites kicked into overdrive…so we decided to take a little detour to this restaurant we had seen on the Travel Channel in Chapel Hill. We looked up the address on his Blackberry, plugged it into the TomTom and set off course about half an hour to Franklin St. On the way, we decided we were in the mood for seafood, so we hit some place not too far from UNC’s campus and had some fried seafood-y goodness. And guess who was there! MORE OLD PEOPLE! YAY! :D So then we hit Time Out, got a massive ice cream cookie sandwich that was absolutely divine and got 2 chicken & cheddar biscuits to go for later. Then we hopped on I-40 back to good old Wilmington (with a couple potty stops, haha). And now totally planning a return trip to enjoy a tasty ice cream cookie sammich with Ivey and give Jarrad the grand tour of UNC’s campus! Yay! Anywho, it was a fun trip and I’m realizing more and more everyday how much I enjoy Jarrad’s company. :) It’s nice to be with someone who you can tell genuinely wants to be with you too!
